What happens if your customer gets a speeding ticket or traffic fine?

If your customer receives a speeding ticket, parking fine or any other traffic violation notice during rental period, the responsible government authorities will contact Hertz as the vehicle owner.

Here is how the process works and what you need to do:

1. Data Transfer to the Authorities

Once Hertz receive the violation notice from the police or other institutions, Hertz is legally required to provide them with the driver's or lessee's details. Customers data will be securely transferred to the responsible authority, and they will contact customer directly regarding the official payment of the fine.

2. Hertz Administration Fee

According to the terms of your rental agreement, an administration fee applies for each individual traffic or parking fine.

  • This fee covers the administrative costs incurred by Hertz while processing the violation and transferring the driver's data to the authorities.

  • Please note: This fee is automatically charged by Hertz and is considered paid. It does not cover or pay the actual traffic fine itself.

3. Paying the Traffic Fine

The official fine for the violation must be paid by customer directly to the authorities. Once the institution receives your details from Hertz, they will send the official violation notice and payment instructions directly to customer. Please review their notice carefully and settle the fine according to their provided guidelines.
