Does my client's rental include roadside assistance for lost keys or flat batteries?

Agent Guide: Premium Emergency Roadside Service (PERS)

While every Hertz rental includes basic roadside assistance for mechanical failures, certain "human error" situations are typically not covered and can result in high call-out fees. To protect your clients from these unexpected costs, we offer the Premium Emergency Roadside Service (PERS).

1. Basic vs. Premium Roadside Service

  • Basic Roadside Assistance (Included): Covers call-outs for mechanical vehicle faults or accidents.
  • Premium Emergency Roadside Service (Optional): Covers call-out costs for incidents caused by the driver's actions.

2. What does PERS cover?

If your client purchases PERS, they will receive additional roadside assistance with no call-out charges for the following:

  • Flat Batteries: If the battery drains due to driver error (e.g., lights left on).
  • Lost Keys: Assistance if the car keys are lost.
  • Out of Fuel Service: Delivery of fuel if the vehicle runs out of gas.
  • Lock-out Service: Assistance if the keys are accidentally locked inside the vehicle.

3. Purchase Information

As an agent, please note the following regarding the purchase of PERS:

  • Availability: Offered in most locations.
  • Purchase Time: This service can typically only be purchased at the rental counter during the vehicle pick-up.
  • Costs: The daily fee varies depending on the country of rental and the vehicle category.

4. Important Limitations

Please inform your clients that while PERS covers the call-out costs for the service provider, it does not cover:

  • The actual cost of vehicle repairs.
  • Any travel expenses incurred to swap or change the vehicle.

How to Access Help

If the client has purchased PERS, they should contact the dedicated assistance numbers displayed directly on the vehicle's key fob.
